Publication Ethic

GAPAI: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam upholds the highest standards of publication ethics and is committed to ensuring the integrity of the academic record. The following ethical guidelines are designed to ensure the quality, transparency, and accountability of the publication process:

1. Responsibilities of Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is original and has not been previously published or under consideration for publication elsewhere. Proper citations and references must be provided for all sources used, and plagiarism in any form is strictly prohibited.
  • Authorship: Only individuals who have made a significant contribution to the research and manuscript should be listed as authors. All co-authors must agree to the final version of the manuscript and its submission for publication.
  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that may influence the research or its interpretation. Full transparency is required to maintain the integrity of the publication process.
  • Data Access and Retention: Authors should be prepared to provide raw data related to their research for editorial review if requested and must retain such data for a reasonable period after publication.

2. Responsibilities of Editors

  • Fairness and Impartiality: Editors must evaluate manuscripts based on their academic merit, relevance to the journal's scope, and contribution to the field, without discrimination based on race, gender, religious beliefs, ethnicity, or political views of the authors.
  • Confidentiality: Editors must maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and must not disclose any information about a manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and other editorial staff.
  • Publication Decisions: The editor is responsible for making publication decisions based on the peer review process and the significance of the research. The editor may consult with other editors or reviewers in making such decisions.
  • Conflict of Interest: Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where they have conflicts of interest that could influence their judgment.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat the manuscript received for review as a confidential document and must not disclose or discuss it with others except as authorized by the editor.
  • Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively, with clear arguments and constructive feedback that will help the authors improve their manuscript. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.
  • Timeliness: Reviewers should complete their reviews within the agreed time frame. If a reviewer feels unqualified to review the manuscript or is unable to provide a timely review, they should notify the editor promptly.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and other published work should be reported to the editor.

4. Responsibilities of the Publisher

  • Maintaining Academic Integrity: The publisher works closely with the editorial team to ensure the integrity of the academic record, including handling cases of suspected misconduct such as plagiarism, duplicate submission, or falsification of data.
  • Transparency and Accountability: The publisher ensures that the journal's editorial and peer review processes are transparent and fair. Any conflicts of interest should be disclosed, and any allegations of research misconduct will be thoroughly investigated.
  • Access to Content: The publisher is committed to providing permanent access to the journal's content, ensuring that all published works are available and accessible to readers.

5. Ethical Violations

GAPAI: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam takes all allegations of unethical behavior seriously. Any cases of suspected misconduct will be investigated following COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines. If ethical violations are confirmed, appropriate actions will be taken, including the correction or retraction of published articles as necessary.
