Peer Review Process

GAPAI: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam employs a rigorous Single Blind Peer Review process to ensure the quality and integrity of the manuscripts published. This process involves the following steps:

1. Initial Submission and Editorial Screening

  • Upon submission, each manuscript is initially reviewed by the editorial team to assess its relevance to the journal's focus and scope, as well as its adherence to basic formatting and ethical standards.
  • Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected outright.

2. Assignment to Reviewers

  • Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field of study.
  • In the Single Blind review process, the identities of the reviewers are kept anonymous, while the authors’ identities are known to the reviewers. This ensures that reviewers can provide unbiased feedback based solely on the content of the manuscript.

3. Review Process

  • Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on criteria such as originality, methodology, significance of the research, clarity of presentation, and relevance to the field of Islamic Education.
  • Reviewers provide detailed comments and constructive feedback, recommending one of the following actions:
    • Accept: The manuscript is accepted for publication with no or minor revisions.
    • Minor Revisions: The manuscript is conditionally accepted, pending minor revisions as suggested by the reviewers.
    • Major Revisions: The manuscript requires significant changes before it can be reconsidered for publication.
    • Reject: The manuscript is not suitable for publication in the journal.

4. Author Revisions

  • Based on the reviewers’ feedback, the authors are required to revise their manuscript. They must submit a revised version along with a point-by-point response to the reviewers’ comments, explaining how each suggestion has been addressed.
  • The revised manuscript may be sent back to the original reviewers for a second round of review, depending on the extent of the revisions.

5. Final Decision

  • The editorial team makes the final decision regarding the publication of the manuscript, taking into account the reviewers’ recommendations and the authors’ revisions.
  • Authors are notified of the decision, which could be acceptance, further revision, or rejection.

6. Publication

  • Once accepted, the manuscript is prepared for publication. The editorial team may perform final edits for clarity, formatting, and consistency before the article is published in the journal.

7. Confidentiality and Ethical Considerations

  • Throughout the review process, the editorial team and reviewers are required to maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript and not disclose any information about it to anyone outside the review process.
  • Any potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed by the reviewers, and if a conflict is identified, the reviewer will be recused from the review process.
